How aware are you of the stress you’re experiencing in your life? Sometimes we can become numb to how stressed we are – it’s a self-protective mechanism and can even be a result of, well, too much stress! When we live with stress day in and day out, we can begin to accept it as normal. This chronic stress can have far-reaching implications, including physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and relational.

How aware are you of the stress your partner is experiencing? If you’re in survival mode, chances are you’re not very aware of it at all. How can you support them as they deal with their stress?

Answer these questions. Then find a quiet, calm place and time (ie: non-stressful) to have a conversation with your partner as a first, important step.

  • Do you recognize the effects stress is having on you? What does it look like? How’s it expressed?
  • How do you deal with your personal stress? What are your strategies, practices, and habits that help? That don’t help?
  • How do you respond to your partner’s stress? Do you know what’s helpful and what’s not helpful? Have you asked them?
  • How do you manage the stress within your relationship itself? Conflict? Complex issues? The daily strain of making decisions, running a household, maintaining a career?
  • How can you go about developing a pro-active game plan for getting on top of the stress in your life?

You can become more aware of the stress in your life and discover answers to these questions and more in the course Managing Stress Together in the Close Companions Online Relationship Academy.

These are stressful times. Let us help you get on top of it.
